Learning has always been a "do it yourself" endeavor, whether given the guide of university curriculum and professors or not. What's changed is the world's perception of a qualified candidate for a high paying job. You can't apply for a high paying job with just a college education anymore. Where 50 years ago it might have been sufficient to win the most coveted positions outside of law and medicine, it's now a prerequisite for the higher degrees needed to get those spots. By denying yourself even a 4-yr degree you've completely denied yourself a shot at an excellent career. Unless, in the words of the Notorious BIG you're "slinging rock or got a wicked jump shot". I very VERY firmly believe this. School is one mere resource, and there are TONS MORE out in the world. Having said that however: This is why I didn't go to college.
