Marine has himself shot to avoid going back to Iraq
Moises Hernandez, 19, of Chicago, a U.S. Marine, had his cousin shoot him in the leg so as to avoid having to be sent back to Iraq.
Hernandez is back with his unit at Camp Pendleton, Calif., and the Marines are investigating the incident. His unit had returned June 5 from a six-month deployment that included a month in Iraq. — Fox News
He has been charged by civilian authorities with filing a false police report, but I expect that the Marines will be much harder on him.
I don’t think that’s really stupidity, a lot of the soldiers who’ve been over there don’t want to go back, and they’d do anything to stay away.
I’ll admit shooting thyself is a little extreme, but it must beat combat.

There are easier ways to get out of military duty, and they don’t involve the possibility of a dishonorable discharge or time at Fort Leavenworth.

This “Marine” is a fucking idiot and liar. I served with PFC Moises Hernandez on the USS BHR when we were deployed on the 15th MEU. This fuck nut did not go anywhere near dead bodies. He stayed on ship the entire time. There were no dead bodies in the ocean for him to sea because we had to fly to the island. We were to far for any of the bodies to get out too. And when the men from Combat Cargo did get to leave off the ship to deploy to Iraq Mr. Hernandez did whatever he could to stay back and he did. He remained on ship and had a nice little trip over to a libo port while the rest of us were at FOB Falcon. This guy lied through his teeth to the media, his father and disgraced the men and women who actually do go through this trama. He can go fuck himself!
